Winterfield Venture Academy believes that a strong home-school connection is one of the most critical factors for students’ success. We welcome and encourage parent involvement in all aspects of our school. Our parents volunteer in classrooms, in the lunchroom, in the office, at extracurricular activities, on field trips, on committees and in many other capacities needed. This year we are asking each family to give 10 hours of volunteer time.
To increase our parental involvement, we are happy to welcome this year our Pops of Dedicated Students program (P.O.D.S.) is a program designed to increase parental involvement from our fathers. It is a reading enrichment program in which our fathers provide additional reading assistance in the classroom. The dads have been trained on specific reading strategies by our Reading Specialist so that they can provide accurate assistance to our students.
Our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) supports our school with fundraising, donations for special days and events such as ribbons for Red Ribbon Week and teacher appreciation lunches. The PTO meets the first Monday of every month at 6:00 pm.
